Allen Chamberlain, Bernard Burns, Henderson and David Daniels, came across a compartment that contained the Book of the Dead. Meanwhile another treasure-seeking party including Dr. Imhotep remained imprisoned in Hamanaptra for three thousand years, sealed inside his sarcophagus, until in 1926, three treasure-seekers: Richard O'Connell, Jonathan Carnahan, and Evelyn Carnahan, came to Hamunaptra, hoping to find treasures. Imhotep's intentions to rule the Earth turned towards the direction of taking the Scrolls of Thebes, which were ancient texts of power.
Now that The Mummy has been unsuccessfully rebooted with Tom Cruise, we're doubling back to the 19 movies respectively.Imhotep was brought back in the first Mummy this in turn gave him the desire to devour human flesh and the intent to spread evil and corruption throughout the world. Brendan Fraser knocks it out of the park as the gruff Rick and the supporting cast is great as well.

While this franchise has long been dead, with The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor releasing in 2008, there are many people who fondly look back at this series (well, the first movie anyway).
Having this curse on him, though, would mean that he could be awakened and would bring with him the plagues of Egypt as well as destruction on the entire world. It followed the story of an Egyptian priest who was cursed for killing the pharaoh and buried beneath the sands.
It was popular enough to garner a remake in 1999, which was directed by Stephen Summers and starred Brendan Fraser (that's a sentence you'll never hear again).Īppropriately titled The Mummy, it brought the old story into a more modern setting. Back then, it was a classic tale about a man who came from the dead to haunt the living.
